TILTON — Last Thursday afternoon, the ribbon was cut on a new housing development off School Street in Tilton that offers spacious lots, beautiful surroundings and affordable homes for sale to all.

Kevin LeCasse of New Hampton is the new owner of Country Meadows and is pleased he could bring a formerly "distressed" neighborhood back to a place anyone would be proud to call home.

LeCasse is the principal owner of New England Family Housing, which specializes in residential, multi-family and commercial acquisitions and redevelopment.

The company currently owns and manages close to 600 properties around the state, including land, homes, and rental properties in Berlin, Claremont, Rochester, Franklin and throughout the Lakes Region.

"I saw this property was for sale and thought, what could be wrong with this? It has a beautiful view," LeCasse said.

For many years, Country Meadows was known as Sherryland Park, but over time it became the site of neglected roadways and numerous maintenance issues. Some of the older homes then fell into disrepair and, as a result, many residents began moving elsewhere, leaving the area open to vandalism and other troubles.

All of that is gone now, though. Freshly mown lawns, well-kept common areas and many new homes have taken over and town officials are excited that LeCasse has brought a new vitality to the rural neighborhood.

"We're glad to see more occupants moving in here, and all the problems of the past gone. It's really a beautiful neighborhood now," she said.

Streets have been renamed to give the neighborhood a fresh start, and those that wind along the eastern hilltop invite everyone to take a stroll on a nice day to enjoy the beautiful views that reach across the Winnipesauke River Valley to the Belknap Mountain Range.

Best of all is the country atmosphere that lies just a few short miles from shopping and other amenities.

"Everything you need is just a couple minutes away, but when you come back out here it's quiet and peaceful," said LeCasse.

While potential residents can purchase the right to place an approved manufactured home of their own choosing in the neighborhood, Country Meadows now offers new homes at very affordable rates through Eagle River Manufactured Homes.

"We're getting really good deals through Eagle River that we are passing on to buyers so we can get good people in here just as soon as possible," he said.

In addition to deals on the homes themselves, LeCasse said he has also been able to negotiate good prices on heating fuel and there are also two large wells to serve the community's water needs.

To make sure all is in proper order and residents are happy, Leslie Wright is the Property Manager who will handle plowing, maintenance of the common areas, and handle any tenant issues that may arise.

Country Meadows is a multi-age family park, perfect for single homeowners, young families and older couples who are looking to downsize to a smaller, more comfortable lifestyle.

LeCasse said the residents already living there have been friendly and enthusiastic about the new look and ownership and he looks forward to others joining them in the near future
